Soldato J-002 is a proud individual. Upon first meeting someone, he comes off as aloof, often using curt sentences with whomever he is speaking with. An example of this is when he is first revived as a Warrior of Abel and had collided against 3G. He acted as if they were the enemies, or, at least, annoying hindrances, to his goal. Although he may seem harsh, his attitude lightens somewhat throughout the series. While fighting with GGG against the Z-Master, J begins to respect them, calling them 'yuusha' (braves) as a term of acknowledgment that they are not just mere annoyances anymore.
However cold, he has been known to show concern for others. Such as when Kaidou was kidnapped and used as a living computer system for the Pia Decem Pit. J did not have the heart to attack his long-time comrade, that is, until he came to the realization that the young boy would have wanted to be defeated if it meant the survival of the entire universe.
J was created on the Red Planet, a place where everything was constantly aflame. As a result of this and his past as Pizza, he finds the option of losing his pride, once more, utterly horrifying. During his and Renais's struggle against Pia Decem and Pillnus, he states that he would rather die fighting than to cast aside his dignity. And as a cyborg warrior, Soldato J is often cornered into harsh situations, yet his burning courage and pride never ceases to dwindle, and thus he is able to overcome every obstacle thrown his way even if it may be years before he can reach his goal.
Fittingly, as his appearance appears similar to a bird, Soldato J has a fascination with flying and the beauty of the sky, yet it is more so the actual act of being able to freely soar through the skies than anything that he truly loves.
